WHEN SHOULD I START LOOKING FOR MY WEDDING INVITATIONS?
Let's work backwards following suggested wedding etiquette using a sample date of September 19.
1. Write down your wedding date: September 19
2. Select your RSVP date using the calendar by counting back four weeks: August 22
3. Allowing your guests to have four weeks to reply, count back four more weeks to choose the ideal date to mail the invitations: July 25
4. Plan time for addressing the invitations. If using a calligrapher (even if it is your best girlfriend who has great handwriting), this can take up to three weeks depending on the number of invitations and the intricacies of your font: July 4-July 25
5. Add three weeks time for most custom invitation companies to complete your order: Final proof due June 13
6. The approval process may take anywhere from one to three weeks once you have made your selection of invitation: Submit order May 23
According to this logic, the countdown to placing your order with a custom stationer is 15 to 17 weeks before your wedding date.
